Cass County Attorney Ben Lindstrom lives just outside of Pine River in the City of Chickamaw Beach with his wife and three children. Ben joined the County Attorney’s Office in 2010 as an Assistant County Attorney and has handled countless criminal prosecutions and civil matters for the Office. He has experience obtaining indictments for murder through the grand jury process and has successfully prosecuted matters involving criminal vehicular homicide, serious assaults, felons in possession of firearms, burglaries, drug crimes, and more.
When the former County Attorney was appointed to be a Judge in Crow Wing County, the Cass County Board formed a selection committee to find a replacement. That selection committee unanimously recommended that the County Board appoint Ben Lindstrom to serve as the next County Attorney. On November 21, 2017, the full Board unanimously adopted this recommendation and appointed Ben to fill the position. Ben was sworn in as County Attorney on December 7, 2017. The residents of Cass County elected Ben to continue serving as County Attorney in November of 2018.
Prior to taking the position of County Attorney, Ben worked in the County Attorney’s Office as an Assistant County Attorney while also serving his local community as Treasurer for the City of Chickamaw Beach. Before that, he worked for the Public Defender’s Office in Brainerd and the Minnesota Judiciary in the Fourth Judicial District. Ben received his law degree from Hamline University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota.
