Responsibilities & Duties 

Cass County Probation has the responsibility to provide supervision as assigned by District Court to:

  • Youth, ages 10 and older
  • Juveniles on state parole who reside in Cass County
  • Adult misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor offenders
  • Adult Wellness Court
  • Juvenile Diversion
  • Electronic Home Monitoring

Cass County Probation employs six full-time probation officers who are appointed by the Ninth Judicial District Court in collaboration with the Cass County Board of Commissioners. The paramount consideration is to promote public safety and to reduce criminal/delinquent behavior by developing individual responsibility for responsible and lawful behavior. The department is mandated under Minnesota state law to be active in the prevention of juvenile delinquency by working with schools, communities, and agencies.
