Once the Marriage License Application has been submitted, a marriage license may be issued in any county in Minnesota and may be used in any county in Minnesota. The record of marriage will only be on file in the county in which the application was issued.
To obtain a marriage license from Cass County, both applicants should appear in person, Monday through Friday between 8 am to 4 pm. If applicable, also bring in your Statement of Premarital Education (PDF). If one of the parties cannot appear in person, a Supplemental Marriage License Application will be given to the party appearing before us to be completed by the non-appearing marriage applicant. The license must be used within six months from the date of issuance.
We only accept cash or check for the following fees that would apply:
Issuance of Marriage License: $115.00
Issuance of Marriage License with a Statement of Premarital Education: $40.00
Fees are non-refundable.
